Its organizational philosophy is called Transformation Education, which emphasizes unique educational programs, stimulating environments and integrated approaches to build successful lives.

Capital Needs

  • Multipurpose Building at the Prince George’s County Campus: With financial assistance from a state bond bill, the Prince George’s County day school campus has nearly met its goal to build a multi-purpose building that will provide students with a much needed gymnasium and auditorium. Before construction can begin, The Children’s Guild must raise the remaining $250,000 of the project budget.

Success Stories

A Mother Says Thank You

“I am so proud of the progress my son has made this school year. He has been able to make more progress in one year attending The Children’s Guild than in the past four years. He has developed friendships in school and at home and has more self-control.

“I am very pleased with the different programs he has been involved in. They have stimulated his interest in learning. He talked to me on several occasions about attending the Medieval Times, hiking, rock climbing, making whistles out of acorns, the Wednesday school store and other great experiences. He looks forward to going to school every day.”

A Proud Uncle Confident About His Nephew’s Future

“I just wanted to express my thanks to everyone for helping my nephew have a successful school year. Watching him play baseball this year was sheer joy! I am so proud of him because he was able to play the season without once letting his behavior interfere with his place on the team. He was able to make friends, showed good sportsmanship, and I really saw his confidence rise after each game, even when he did not perform well. This would have been impossible for him even a year ago.

“He is also beginning to make the connection that staying in class is the gateway to some real academic progress. For the first time he believes that he can achieve whatever he wants.”

Graduate Earns Trinity College Scholarship

Vida is a straight-A student and heading to college. But when she first entered The Children’s Guild, she was not the typical college bound student. Vida entered The Children’s Guild with a troubled past and turbulent history, without the discipline to focus on her work, control her feelings or regularly attend class. She acted stubborn, loud and defiant; she was angry and antisocial.

Despite her behavior, Vida’s teachers never gave up on her. “They’re honest with me,” Vida said. “They treat me how I want to be treated: with respect. I started realizing people do care about me. I didn’t have to do the old things I was doing.”

While growing personally, Vida also grew academically. Vida, who had failed at other schools, became an honor roll student with a 4.0 GPA. She earned a scholarship to Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and plans to study psychology to engage her empathetic interest in helping children with therapy.
